Life Of A Fitness Coach… A Day In, So To Speak

life-of-a-fitness-coachMost people have no idea what I do as a fitness coach.  It’s sort of nebulous.  Do I come to your house and walk in with weights and start barking orders?  No.  That’s not it.

Somehow though I fill up my day with “coaching activities”.  And I thought it would be kind of fun to walk through a typical day and talk about what I do.

So here is a Tuesday… like most other Tuesdays… in the life of a fitness coach.

Life Of A Fitness Coach

6:00AM: I woke up early and had breakfast (egg whites, greek yogurt, fruit, and toast)… then created my daily to-do list.  That to-do list dictates all my daily activities.

7:00 AM: Facebook and email correspondence time.  I have about 4 or 5 active groups on Facebook and I have to check in and also post a bit.  I like to get this done as early as possible so that everyone starts the day on the same page.  I checked in with my T25 group, The Locker Room, my Coaches group, and my Coach 60 Day Development group.  I also got my various people on email up and running, including the contractor developing my “cartoon” ad for my business course.  This is life of a fitness coach basics.

8:00 AM: Blog time.  This is my favorite part of my day, as I get to CREATE something new and learn something in many cases. Today I cranked out a quick article on the Compound Effect as I just completed Chapter 1 with my Coach Development group.  Pretty fun article to write and at least I thought it was good, haha.

9:00 AM: Chowed down on my morning protein bar for a snack and hung around work for a bit getting the latest news on the government furlough.  Not great news but I got the rest of the day off!!  Went home early and got to hang out a bit before diving back into work.

10:30 AM: Tuesdays are my days for follow ups and reaching out to people that have contacted me or I have not heard from in a while.  I went through my list, send some messages/emails, and got caught up.

11:30 AM: I had a broccoli salad and a protein shake for lunch.  Doesn’t sound like much and I usually eat more but I am an a fat cutting phase of my program… so I am shooting for about 1500 calories per day… and this helps keep me satisfied but not packing in too many calories.

Life Of A Fitness Coach

12:00 PM: Wrote and sent out a short guest blog article about “Skinny Fat” to my SEO guy for him to publish on another site.  These are just 300 word ramblings that help get my site referenced for the Goog (little insider tip).

12:30 PM: Shakeology samples.  Sent out 6 and that’s a good day.  Tuesdays and Thursdays are my sample days.

1:30 PM: Went on a 5 mile run with some friends I had not seen in a while.  Had a great workout catching up and running the hills of Point Loma.

2;30 PM: Shakeology post run recovery drink!!!  How do you think I get all this done?

3:00 PM: Started going over taking points and refining the ideas for my 5PM radio interview.

4:00 PM: Got my routine and the Meetup correspondence done for my Beach Workout.

4:30 PM: Quick email and Facebook correspondence.

5:00 PM: Did a radio interview on Blog Talk Radio.  You can hear the recording here if you want!  The call was awesome!

6:00 PM: Hosted my Beach Workout on Mission Bay.  Had about 12 people come out and we had a blast.  We did legs and I am still sore from that workout!

7:30 PM: Got home, showered, and had some soup for dinner.

8:00 PM: Relax time.  Caught up on some TV for an hour, checked out, and relaxed.

9:00 PM: Read a bit and caught up with Jen… an ending to an awesome day.

10:00 PM: Restful, deep sleep.

And that is a day in the life of a fitness coach.
