In the ongoing fitness experiment that is my life (it really is, and it’s fun)… I try to think of different things that will help people flip the mental switch that takes them from an unhealthy life to a healthy one. That’s what it was for me… one day I was living a life where I hated and dreaded exercise… and within a week or two I had learned to love it.
Sounds so easy, right? Well, I guess it’s not… because if it was, I would have done it much sooner and a lot more people would be in a lot better shape. The change though, for me, was a mental one. One day I woke up, not long after starting my real fitness journey, and realized I GET TO EXERCISE (or something like that). Once this happened, I no longer had to struggle to workout. And 3.5 years later, not a damn thing has changed. If anything, now I love my dedication to fitness even more.
I GET To Exercise… So Do You
I am no different than you. Genetics, I’m crazy obsessed, vain, weird, whatever…. blah blah blah. The real truth is we’re all built to move and get exercise. That’s the real genetics you are dealing with. That’s why you feel so much better and your body naturally finds it’s best form (lean and strong) when you move it.
The moment that you can say “I GET to exercise” and it’s no longer something you dread, hate, or fear… is the moment that your life alters course. It may be a slight alteration for some and a huge alteration for others… but either way, it’s an improvement. One that comes with all kinds of benefits. Longer, healthier life. Looking and feeling better. Healthy activities and ways to meet friends. All nice little bumps from changing your perspective on exercise.
It’s hard, but it’s easy. Repeat after me. You “get” to exercise. Go forth and prosper.
